The Pfaff Schumate Family | Maternity Session | Chicago Family Photographer
The last session I got to do before shelter in place went into effect! It was a great note to “end” on, but I am truly missing my clients so much. I am anxious about when I’ll get to photograph anyone again. My biggest concern is not being able to capture birth sessions for clients who have already committed and paid for them, due to hospital policies becoming understandably strict on visitors. My household is practicing stay at home and self distancing! I am grateful to have a roof over my head and a full fridge. I don’t want to dwell too much on the pandemic, because we’ve all probably had enough of it!
Our original plan for this session was to do a sunset time slot at Montrose Harbor, but the day before, Maggie contacted me with concerns about being too cold and asked what other options she had! We scrambled to contact a few plant shops to see if they would allow us to use their space. The Plant Shop Chicago was kind enough to allow us to come in before they opened for the day to do our session. What an amazing little shop and we are so thankful to them for opening the doors for us! Mike, Maggie, and Watson are just the cutest little family, awaiting the arrival of their baby. I didn’t find out until the actual session, that Maggie is actually referred to as “Plant Lady” by her friends, how perfect! You also may notice the shop has a few Star Wars figures sprinkled throughout their shop, which is pretty funny considering her due date of, “May the 4th be with you.” Disclaimer: I’ve never seen Star Wars.
Maggie did take advantage of my complimentary styling service, and their outfits transferred beautifully to the Plant Shop, even though it wasn’t even our original location! I just love when things fall perfectly into place when they feel like they may not.
Huge thanks to the Plant Shop Chicago, Mike & Maggie, their friends who came to help with Watson, and the universe for being on our side!
Please send positive and healthy thoughts to Maggie, as she is a nurse and currently still working! <3
